My family owns a small-business in Pueblo, Colorado. For the past 13 years, we have been one of the most successful pizza delivery businesses in town—competing for our share of customers through providing the best possible product. Today, President Obama visited our city, flying in on Air Force One. As I saw his supporters, as Pueblo is very welfare-dependent, I noticed something. All of these people lined up to just catch a glimpse of the President. Or to just shake his hand. Or to just hear him speak. Whatever the case, all of these people were going out of there way for a single moment “with the President”....

“Bread and Circuses” was a term used to describe the Roman government’s efforts to distract their people from the hard times by giving out food and entertainment. The people would get a free show and a full stomach, and just like that they would feel better about their current state. Although Rome would eventually fall, we still see this philosophy in politics and government today...

Recently the President came out with an advertisement attacking the wealthy (not a surprise). The President then went on to say that “trickle down”, “top-down”, economics do not work—in fact, President Obama declared that this philosophy is the very thing that got us into this mess. Of course, he then went on to say that the wealthy need to “pay their fair share”...

This is our last chance to secure that America, once again, is a sanctuary of freedom that all may run to. We have been knocked down, but not out. We have fallen, but only to stand firm again. We must act now—it is the time for choosing. What will you choose?
